Figuring out how to afford to pay for college can be a daunting task. Fortunately, Indiana residents have over 30 scholarships and financial aid opportunities. These college scholarships range from $250 to full-ride scholarships to Indiana state schools, Indiana Tech, Indiana State University, and Central Indiana University.
Applying for college scholarships and financial aid is crucial to eliminate or at least minimize post-graduation debt. Indiana students are also able to renew some scholarships. There are even some scholarships that are guaranteed depending on the Indiana resident’s major.
Listed below are scholarships available to Indiana residents and out-of-state students who intend to start going to school in Indiana 2016-2017.
1. AQHA Indiana Quarter Horse Youth Scholarship
This scholarship is for $1,000, and there are a limited number of awards available. It is not renewable or available to international or online-only students. It is available to out-of-state students. The submission deadline is December 1, 2017. Candidates must have a GPA of at least 2.5 in order to be considered. Candidates must also have been actively involved in QHA for at least two years.
2. Army ROTC Green to Gold Scholarship Program
This scholarship program pays for tuition or room and board and has unlimited availability. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is open to out-of-state students but not international or online-only students. The submission deadline is February 1, 2016. Candidates must have at least a 2.5 GPA and either a 920 SAT score or 19 ACT score. Candidates must also be under 31 years old, have two years active duty military service, and no criminal convictions, and a favorable National Agency check.
3. ESA Youth Scholarship Program
This scholarship program awards $8,500. It is not renewable. It is open to out-of-state students but not international or online-only students. The submission deadline is March 25, 2017. Candidates must also be between 15-20 years old and have a parent that was or is a police officer, firefighter, paramedic, or EMT.
4. EMU National Scholars Program
This scholarship program awards $15,000. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is open to out-of-state students but not international or online-only students. The submission deadline varies. Candidates must have at least a 3.5 GPA. Candidates must also be a freshman or transfer living in university housing.
5. Church’s Chicken Community Scholarship Program
This scholarship program awards $1,000 to one candidate. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is open to some out-of-state students (AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IL, IN, LA, MI, MO, MS, NC, NM, NV, TN, TX) but not international or online-only students. The submission deadline varies. Candidates must have at least a 2.7 GPA.
6. Carson Scholars Fund, Inc
This scholarship program awards $1,000 to 1 candidate per high school. It is not renewable. It is open to out-of-state students but not international or online-only students. The submission deadline is January 8, 2017. Candidates must have at least a 3.75 GPA.
7. Indiana CPA Society education Foundation Scholarship
This scholarship program pays $50,000 in total scholarships and has varied availability. It is not renewable. It is not open to out-of-state students, international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is April 24, 2017. Candidates must be pursuing an accounting degree, be in good academic standing, be a member of Indiana CPA Society, and attending ICI member institution or Ball State University.
8. Indiana Engineering Scholarships
This scholarship program awards $1,000 and has varied availability. It is not renewable. It is not open to out-of-state students, international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is May 1, 2017. Candidates must be pursuing an engineering degree and have accrued at least half of credit hours required for an undergraduate.
9. MGMA Midwest Section Scholarships
This scholarship program awards $1,000 and has varied availability. It is not renewable. It is open to some out-of-state students (IL, IN, IA, MI, MN, NE, ND, OH, SD, and WI) but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is May 1, 2016. Candidates must be pursuing a medical degree.
10. The AAF-Greater Evansville Scholarship Award
This scholarship program awards $5,000 and has varied availability. It is not renewable. It is not available to out-of-state students, international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is March 23, 2017. Candidates must have at least a 2.5 GPA. Applicants must be pursuing a degree in advertising, marketing, public relations, or graphic design. Candidates must be a resident of one of the following counties: Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, Gibson, Pike, Indiana, Edwards, White, Wabash, Wayne, Henderson, Union, or Davies.
11. President’s Scholarship
This scholarship program pays for full in-state tuition and room and board and has 20 awards available. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is open to out-of-state students but not international or online-only students. The submission deadline is December 1, 2016. Candidates must meet at least two of these three requirements: 3.75 GPA, either a 1200 SAT score or 26 ACT score, and/or be in the top 10% of their graduating class.
12. Center for Leadership Development Scholarship
This scholarship program pays for full in-state tuition. There are two awards available. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is open to out-of-state students but not international or online-only students. The submission deadline is March 1, 2017. Candidates must have at least a 3.0 GPA and complete the Leadership Development Program.
13. Gongaware Scholarship
This scholarship program pays for full in-state tuition and $3,000 into a professional development account. There are 4 awards available. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is open to out-of-state students but not international or online-only students. The submission deadline is December 1, 2016. Candidates must be majoring in financial services, or insurance and risk management. Candidates must meet at least two of these three requirements: 3.5 GPA, either a 1070 SAT score or 23 ACT score, and be in the top 10% of their graduating class.
14. Networks Scholarship
This scholarship program pays for full in-state tuition. There are eight awards available annually. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is open to out-of-state students but not international or online-only students. The submission deadline is December 1, 2016. Candidates must be majoring in the financial services industry. Candidates must also complete the Networks Professional Development Program. Applicants must meet at least two of these three requirements: 3.5 GPA, either a 1070 SAT score or 23 ACT score, and be in the top 15% of their graduating class.
15. Rural Health Scholarship
This scholarship program pays for full in-state tuition. There are ten awards available. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is not available to out-of-state students, international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is December 1, 2016. Candidates must be majoring in the primary care physician-industry. Candidates must have a MCAT score equal to the average from the previous year’s students. Candidates must also have at least a 3.5 GPA and either a 1070 SAT score or 23 ACT score.
16. Sycamore Teacher Leader Scholarship
This scholarship program pays for full in-state tuition and $3,000 into a professional development account. There are ten awards available. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is February 11, 2017. Candidates must be majoring in elementary, secondary, or special education. Candidates must demonstrate leadership success and have a record of community service. Candidates must also have at least a 3.5 GPA and either an 1100 SAT score or 24 ACT score.
17. University Honors Scholarship
This scholarship program pays for full in-state tuition. There are 30 awards available. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is December 1, 2016. Candidates must meet at least two of these three requirements: 3.5 GPA, either a 1200 SAT score or 26 ACT score, and be in the top 10% of their graduating class.
18. Creative and Performing Arts Award
This scholarship program awards $3,000. There are a limited number of awards available. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is March 1, 2017. Candidates must be art majors with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. An audition, portfolio viewing, and interview are required as part of the application process.
19. Sycamore Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Scholarship
This scholarship program awards $2,500. There are 15 awards available. It is not renewable. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is February 1, 2017. Candidates must have at least a 3.5 GPA and either a 1200 SAT score or 26 ACT score. Selected candidates must enroll in a special section of UNIV 299 if awarded.
20. Warren M. Anderson Scholarship
This scholarship program pays for full in-state tuition. There are ten awards available. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is March 1, 2017. Candidates must have a 3.5 GPA and have already completed FAFSA. Candidates must also attend an interview for consideration.
21. Academic Excellence Scholarship
This scholarship program awards $4,000/year. The scholarship is guaranteed. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is December 1, 2016. Candidates must meet at least two of these three requirements: 3.75 GPA, either a 1200 SAT score or 26 ACT score, and/or be in the top 10% of their graduating class.
22. Academic Distinction Scholarship
This scholarship program awards $2,500/year. The scholarship is guaranteed. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is December 1, 2016. Candidates must have a 3.5 GPA and either an 1100 SAT score or 24 ACT score. Candidates must have completed minimum college-prep curriculum or Core 40.
23. Academic Merit Scholarship
This scholarship program awards $1,000/year. The scholarship is guaranteed. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is December 1, 2016. Candidates must meet at least two of these three requirements: 3.3 GPA. Candidates must have completed minimum college-prep curriculum or Core 40.
24. Child of Alumni Textbook Scholarship
This scholarship program awards a $100 credit (one-time award at ISU bookstore). The scholarship is guaranteed. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is June 15, 2016. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA and be the child of an ISU graduate.
25. College Challenge Success Award
This scholarship program awards $250. The scholarship is guaranteed. It is not renewable. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is June 15, 2016. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA and have earned a “C” or higher in a College Challenge Course.
26. Illinois Student Scholarship
This scholarship program awards a special reduced tuition rate of $4,016/semester. The scholarship is guaranteed. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. There is no submission deadline. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA and have earned a College Prep diploma.
27. Incentive Scholarship
This scholarship program awards $5,000/year. The scholarship is guaranteed. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is June 15, 2016. Candidates must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Candidates must not qualify for the Illinois Student Scholarship, Kentucky Student Scholarship, Midwest Consortium Scholarship, or Ohio Student Scholarship.
28. International Scholar Award
This scholarship program awards $5,000/year. The scholarship is guaranteed. It is renewable up to 3 years. The scholarship is exclusively for international students. It is not available to out-of-state students or online-only students. The submission deadline is July 15, 2016. Candidates must have at least a 3.0 GPA and not be fully sponsored.
29. Kentucky Student Scholarship
This scholarship program awards a special reduced tuition rate of $4,016/semester. The scholarship is guaranteed. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is exclusively available to Kentucky residents and is not available to international or online-only students. There is no submission deadline. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA and have earned a College Prep diploma.
30. Laptop Award
This scholarship program awards a campus-ready laptop computer. The scholarship is guaranteed. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is June 15, 2016. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA and have earned a College Prep diploma.
31. Lugar Nominee Scholarship
This scholarship program awards $1,500 (one-time). The scholarship is guaranteed, with limited availability. It is not renewable. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is June 1, 2016. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA. Candidates must also have been nominated by the student’s high school and completed FAFSA.
32. Lugar Scholars Minority Grant
This scholarship program awards the full unmet cost of attendance. There are ten scholarships available. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is June 1, 2016. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA. Candidates must also be selected as Lugar Scholars and completed FAFSA.
33. Midwest Consortium Scholarship
This scholarship program awards a special reduced tuition rate of $4,016/semester. The scholarship is guaranteed. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is exclusively available to Kentucky residents and is not available to international or online-only students. There is no submission deadline. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA and have already completed FAFSA. Candidates must be residents of either: Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin.
34. Summer Honors Scholarship
This scholarship program awards $1000. The scholarship is guaranteed. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is available to out-of-state students but not international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is June 15, 2016. Candidates must have a 3.0 GPA and have earned a “C” or higher in the Summer Honors Program at Indiana State University.
35. 21st Century Scholars Excellence Scholarship
This scholarship program pays for a portion of the on-campus room and board. There is limited availability of awards. It is renewable up to 3 years. It is not open to out-of-state students, international, or online-only students. The submission deadline is March 1, 2017. Candidates must meet at least two of these three requirements: 3.75 GPA, either a 1200 SAT score or 26 ACT score, and/or be in the top 10% of their graduating class.
